Numerous organizations and governmental entities serve the horticultural field. These organizations protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public and promote professionalism within the horticultural occupations. The state licensing board requires that anyone performing a landscape project valued at over $500 obtain a C-27 license. Licensed contractors are identified by name and license number on the board website. Many of the professional associations have areas of their websites open to the public that describe their mission, what to expect from a professional and rosters of members.
